Orange County Church’s

Vision, Mission, and Values

Our Goal

“To create environments where people are encouraged to pursue intimacy with Jesus Christ, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders.”

Our Strategy

“Every dollar and action will be focused on transforming people into fully devoted followers of Christ.”

Three things must be happening for this to occur:

     1. The unchurched must attend our church

     2. Attendees must be introduced to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

     3. Believers, new and mature, must be challenged to take the next step in their spiritual journey to become more like Jesus.

Our Guiding Scriptures

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:16-20 New International Version (NIV)

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The Great Commandment

Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)

36

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The Ministry of Reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:14-20 New International Version (NIV)

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.

15

And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”

The Heavenly Vision

Acts 26:17-20 New International Version (NIV)

“I am sending you to them

18

to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

19“So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. 20

First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.”
